There is no racing in this country today as we take our annual Christmas break, the next action coming at Kempton on Boxing Day. However there is a meeting taking place in Ireland as Thurles carries the baton. The ground there surprisingly(!) is going to be really heavy. I'm surprised there isn't an all-weather card on at Lingfield - they seem to race there every day!
There never seems to be a shortage of jobs available in the racing industry. Looking through the Racing Post most stables seem to be advertising for staff - even champion flat trainer is recruiting work riders. The trouble is, you need to be 10 stone or less which just about rules me out!

I am puzzled as to why every seems to dress up at the Ladbrokes World Darts Championship. They even had a fellow in there the other day with an emu attacking the commentator. It seems to me that the only ones that don't get dressed up are the girls that lead the players in, in fact they seem to have forgotten to get dressed at all!

There are two good football matches on the television this afternoon so that is my afternoon mapped out! At 1.30pm Swansea take on Manchester United, while at 4.00pm Chelsea play Aston Villa. At odds of 9/2 Swansea could prove tempting (and I'm sure United fan Tony Lomas will be delighted that I am tipping them...Happy Christmas Tony!).
Looking at the Championship, it really looks as though Blackburn are struggling. They have won just one match under their manager and it doesn't look as though the owners know too much about football either!
