We have good news from Plumpton as they have cancelled their early morning inspection with temperatures presumably not dropping as low as had been anticipated.  The stable has one runner at the meeting, Too Generous (pictured above) in the mares' race and she is forecast to go off at long odds-on having won three of her previous four starts.  To be fair she does look to be different class to her rivals on all known form and Tom Scudamore will be on board to do the steering.  Wolverhampton have passed an early morning inspection following 1cm of snow overnight, the track was unraceable this morning but has improved sufficiently to race.  Lingfield do not anticipate any problems ahead of their all-weather card.

I guess I am quite lucky to live by the sea - it never seems to get that cold, indeed the temperature very rarely goes below freezing.  When I woke up this morning the thermometer said that it was 4°c, while further up country some exposed areas have been really badly affected by frost and snow.  The rain has finally relented (more or less!) but now we have snow and ice to contend with!

I thought that Poole Master ran creditably up at Wetherby on Saturday when beating a length by Four Jacks in the 2m4f novices' chase, only being caught in the dying strides.  The pair of them came twenty lengths clear of the third horse so this probably wasn't a bad effort.  He should be winning over fences before too long.

Arsenal were beaten 2-0 by Manchester City yesterday and I think that referee Mike Dean had it absolutely right when he sent off Laurent Koscielny for his challenge on Edin Dzenko - in fact, it was more like a wrestling match.  Even manager Arsene Wenger said that it was a penalty and when he says that, you know the referee has it 500% right!  I see that Manchester City returned 912 tickets at £62 each - it is hardly surprising given that that is for only 90 minutes entertainment (and they are supposed to be one of the more reasonable sides in the Premiership!)...it is cheaper to go to the Cheltenham Festival and much more entertaining.

I see that The Only Way Is Essex star (and I use the term loosely) Lauren Goodger was voted off of Dancing On Ice at the weekend.  Judge Jason Gardiner compared her to a walrus - I bet there are a few walruses out there who would be insulted!

golf_flagA mate of mine sent me a load of golfing jokes the other day - it is only fair that I make you suffer them as well...

Golfer: "Do you think that it is a sin to play on a Sunday?"
Caddy: "The way you play, it is a sin on any day!"
