The weather forecast has been very accurate at Pond House and we have woken up to the yard blanketed in snow! It is only 2-3cm deep at the moment but it continues to come down quite heavily. The majority of staff have braved it into work this morning and it is day like these that our covered indoor canter come in very handy! Racing has been abandoned at Chepstow but Lingfield and Wolverhampton on the all-weatehr are on. It did snow at my home in Brixham but nothing has settled as yet as the ground is too wet! The outlook for racing at the weekend looks a bit bleak. Haydock and Taunton are already off for tomorrow while Towcester abandoned yesterday for Sunday. Ascot was raceable at 8am this morning for tomorrow although they are forecast snow and are inspecting the course at 4.30pm this afternoon so keep an eye out for news of this meeting.
Entries are out for the World Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival. There are lots of entries as with Big Buck's out of the race there are lots of trainers who think they might be able to win it this year! Last year there were only 34 entries at this stage, this year there is 61! It is a very open competitive looking race that will take a lot of winning however. David has Dynaste and Grands Crus entered but both horses will have other entries at the Festival as well.
There is much controversy this morning regarding Lance Armstrong's interview last night. It is hard to believe that he is guilty of taking drugs during all seven of his Tour De France wins. You are telling me that none of his team mates did not know what was happening. He took 500 drug tests and passed them all so someone must have been helping him. I now think he has got to name all the people who were involved. I would take his bike clips away forever.
Lional Messi was showing off his four World football trophies at his last home game. That was good but what was even better was that it only cost £6 to get into the match at Barcelona. For the Arsenal game the other night it would have cost you £62 to go and watch, good old England!
Golfer: " How do you like my game?" Caddy: It's very good but personally I prefer golf!"
