Weekend Jottings!

We go from one extreme to the other!  Following our twelve runners at Ffos Las and Wetherby yesterday afternoon, we have none today with Home Run now a non-runner in the Scottish County Hurdle at Musselburgh.

Just when you thought it was safe to turn on the television, John McCririck now has a show on Attheraces.  Today at 10.30am he will be interviewing former Cheltenham supremo Edward Gillespie...I wonder if he knows what he has let himself in for?!  Hopefully 'Big Mac' will be able to exercise some restraint and let his guest have their say rather than just over-power them.  I guess we shall see.

I see that McFly will be at Newmarket on Saturday 24th August...no, not a horse but a pop group.  They have also lined-up the Kaiser Chiefs on 2nd August and Madness on 19th July...Madness is about right!  In all seriousness though, anything that attracts people through the turnstiles at a race meeting has to be a good thing and with these three big acts lined-up, hopefully there will be a few people encouraged to come racing again in the future.

I see that Roberto Mancini is going to dive in and pay £40million for Luis Suarez in the summer.  It's amazing - he gets rid of one problem and then goes chasing another!  I suppose at least Suarez can play!
