Today there are just two meetings taking place over the jumps at Market Rasen and Ffos Las and the stable has three runners at the Welsh track, Western Warhorse, Smooth Classic and El Lobo.  It looks like a very competitive card there today and we will be hoping for the best for our runners.

Self-promoting bookmaker Paddy Power does love a bit of publicity.  On Tuesday he was arrested in Rome for putting up board prices on who will be the next Pope.  He was later released but authorities did keep his board!

Liverpool take on Swansea in the Premiership this afternoon so it should certainly be interesting for the Reds' manager Brendan Rogers.  Let's hope that Liverpool don't lose otherwise the crowd will be having a right good go at their young boss.  I think that my friend Maurice will be heading the crowd's noisy opinions!

Manchester City, Wigan and Chelsea are my idea of good things today in the Cup competitions - these will be paying for the week's groceries in the Barnes household!

I will be helping my son Lester out in the Palace Hotel golf shop in Torquay this morning so if you are in the area and fancy a chat about racing or golf (or just about anything else really!) do drop in to see me.  They have a good small 9 hole golf course in the grounds of the hotel!
