What a great day for the stable yesterday afternoon with four winners moving David back up to third place in the trainers' title. Shotavodka (A P McCoy) and Doctor Harper (T J Murphy) were our winners at Sandown, while Broadway Buffalo (pictured above) and Ballynagour scored at Warwick. Feature race winner Ballynagour was one of the easiest winners I think I have ever seen and I would imagine he will be facing a hike in the weights for this. David has said that he will probably now go for one of the handicap chases at next month's Cheltenham Festival.

I thought that Timmy Murphy was excellent aboard Doctor Harper in the bumper at Sandown yesterday. He looked booked for second place halfway up the straight, but Timmy made a decisive move to switch his mount to the far side and he got up close home to score by a short head. This appeared to be a decent bumper so he is obviously a smart horse to score under a penalty. David has a very exciting bunch of young horses to look forward to for the future.
Sadly Newcastle have been forced to abandon their Eider card after some heavy snow has left the track unraceable, although there are still meetings taking place at Kempton and Chepstow over jumps and an all-weather fixture at Lingfield. The stable has a couple of runners at Kempton, Katkeau and Stroke Of Genius who will be partnered by Tom Scudamore. Spare a thought for our staff that made the long journey up north to Newcastle for racing - as you can see from the picture taken by Zoe this morning, it looks like it is going to be a long trip home.

There are some exciting looking football matches this weekend and Reading versus Wigan looks to be a six pointer at the bottom of the league. The big match in London is QPR against Manchester United and I wouldn't be at all surprised if Sir Alex Ferguson leaves a few of his star players at home for their big European match coming up...having said that, even their reserve players would be good enough to beat most teams.
My treble for the weekend had to be Manchester United at 8/15, Port Vale at 6/5 and Watford at 5/6.
