Garynella (n/side)
Today there are four meetings on around the country. There are three over the sticks at Doncaster, Newbury and Kelso and a flat card at Lingfield. The big race at Newbury today is the £50,000 Greatwood Gold Cup at 3.50pm. David runs French recruit Garynella in the race on 10st2lb and Tom Scu rides. Our six year old ran well at Cheltenham on his British debut over 2 miles and has had a little break since then and we are hoping he runs well off his light weight stepping up in distance. There is also a £50,000 race at Doncaster this afternoon, the 2.55pm Grimthorpe chase and not to be outdone there is a £30,000 novice hurdle and a £20,000 Listed chase at Kelso! There is lots of prize money on offer around the the country today and some good competitive action to watch. What is amazing is that even after all the rain we have been having over the last few months the going at Doncaster is good and at Newbury it is only good to soft, where does all the water go?!
The stable as five runners at Newbury. Water Garden and Bygones Sovereign kick us off in the first race at Newbury while Sona Sasta runs in the Veterans chase. The Pier runs in another competitive hurdle and should appreciate the drying ground while as mentioned earlier, Garynella completes the line up by running in the big race of the day at 3.50pm.
Sona Sasta after winning at Chepstow
In yesterdays action, Bladoun ran a good race at Newbury. He finished third conceding weight away to the winner and second and looked like he might appreciate a step up in trip if the ground continues to dry. Off the Wall ran okay on his first hurdle start while Sir Frank was slightly disappointing and in hindsight the race may have come to soon after his good run at Huntingdon last week. I am pleased to report all the horses are fine this morning.
David Probert picked up a 28 day ban at Lingfield yesterday. He eased up and sropped his hands on the even money favourite Paphos and got beat by Saharia. It did look terrible and he can have no excuses. Why don't they just ride them out?
Poor Rory McIlroy had to pull out a golf competition after 8 holes with toothache. Mind you, he was 7 over par at the time! It does seem to take him a few comps to get into his swing!
Football looks straight forward today. Everton 2/5, Man Utd 2/7 and Kidderminster 4/9. Have a nice day.
