Although we drew a blank at Newbury on Saturday, I thought there were still a couple of creditable efforts in defeat. In particular Water Garden ran well to finish runner-up to Buck Magic in the three mile handicap hurdle under young Tom Bellamy. It's a shame that the starter didn't let them go first time as Buck Magic would have been left behind! Still, this was a good effort and I'm sure he will be winning again before too long. The Pier also performed with credit, finishing fourth over two miles and he looks as though he will benefit from a slight step-up in trip.

There are three meetings this afternoon at Southwell and Ffos Las over the sticks and on the all-weather flat at Kempton. The stable has no runners today.
Above: Weekend Millionair (M Ennis) on the gallops
Above is a picture of Weekend Millionair on the gallops recently. Our six year old went nicely in a solo spin under Mikey Ennis and he has entries at Fontwell and Sandown later in the week so I'm sure we will be seeing him in action again before too long.

I was watching the racing from Sedgefield yesterday and it looks like it was almost worth going just for the fish and chips. At £3.50 per portion, you can't really argue with the value - I bet the bookies wished they were as busy as the fish and chip van!

I see that Tom Scudamore has a better percentage strike rate at Ffos Las than A P McCoy! Tom boasts a 22% strike rate, while A P has a 21% wins to runs ratio - I know that it isn't much but whenever you are in front of the champ it has to be good!

Watch your bets! If you are thinking of having a little wager in the last race at Ffos Las this afternoon do make sure that you are betting on the right horse...it sounds obvious, but the jolly is called Western Commander, while the second favourite is called Western Jo. It looks to be a match between the two with perennial rivals A P McCoy and Richard Johnson taking the mounts.

There was a good win for Spurs yesterday as they beat London rivals Arsenal 2-1. Bale is looking unplayable at the moment. Meanwhile, I had a dream that West Ham became only the second team to win this season at Stoke!

I have been reading quotes from Oscar Wilde and he said, "Bigamy is having one wife too many...monogamy is the same!"
