*Oddjob, Basil Fawlty N/R at Leicester*
We have three National Hunt meetings to look forward to this afternoon at Ayr, Sandown and Leicester as well as an all-weather flat meeting at Wolverhampton. Unfortunately Oddjob and Basil Fawlty are both non-runners at Leicester this afternoon on account of the deteriorating ground, although we will have a rare runner on the flat at Wolverhampton in the form of Vergrigio (pictured above). I see that all the services are represented at Sandown today for the Grand Military Gold Cup and the Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother Memorial Hunter Chase. There will be plenty of colour on show and quite a few jockeys that ride longer than John Wayne!
Every time I open a paper and read the naps section from these Cheltenham preview nights I see Dynaste's name mentioned...last night the circus moved on to Westmanstown and Paddy Power picked our exciting grey chaser. I wonder if they have big liabilities on our charge?! Either way, I hope he is right. Dynaste was left in the RSA at yesterday's six day confirmation stage.

Young Robert Tart is really starting to make a name for himself. The young apprentice flat jockey who claims 7lbs rode a winner on Wednesday and a double yesterday at Wolverhampton - he looks stylish and strong and will be soon claiming considerably less than 7lbs. I bet he takes some stick over his name though, and I don't mean Robert!

I know that punters like a bet on these big meetings ante-post, but they should know the risks before parting with their cash. Horses can meet with setbacks or even just hold alternative engagements and if they cannot accept those risks then they shouldn't be betting. Trainers have the interests of their owners and their horses at heart and as far as I am concerned that is absolutely right. If you like an ante-post bet, my advice is to find a bookie who offers the non-runner, no bet concession.

It was a good night for the English football teams yesterday as Spurs produced a great performance to beat Inter Milan 3-0. I had also better mention Newcastle managing a draw in Russia!

Golfer Rory McIlroy is continuing to struggle in Miami with a round of 73. Maybe he is playing too much tennis...Love all!
