The weather has caused both meetings at Doncaster and Newbury to be abandoned today due to snow!  Can you believe we are in March, where is all the spring sunshine!  The two abandonments adds to the meetings already lost at Kelso and Stratford which were called off yesterday.  Doncaster has been snowed off but they are going to re-arrange the meeting which is good news so they don't lose the Lincoln.  At Newbury yesterday Shotavodka won the handicap hurdle in good style off top weight and he looks a very promising novice.  That was his third win in a row and he could have an entry at Aintree next time.

Midnight Tuesday will have to brush up on his jumping and African Broadway was a bit diappointing but did pick up just under a grand for finishing third.  Our conditional Tom Bellamy rode a 10/1 winner on Supreme Bob for Lucy Jones at Newbury and Mikey Ennis finished second for Keith revely riding in the amateur flat race at Doncaster so it is good to see our boys are keeping in good form!

So with all the other meetings off today, Southwell will get plenty of TV exposure this afternoon.  They are going to show four races on channel 4, so I bet they are running around tidying the course up!  Only joking, it is always tidy!  Fingers crossed that Wincanton will be on tomorrow, they are inspecting this morning, please stop raining!

They interviewed Mick Easterby at Doncaster yesterday.  He sold the winner of the Brocklesby to Bill Turner.  It was called Micks Yer Man.  Easterby is a real character, one of the old school, mind you I don't think he ever went to school!

In the football, Engalnd beat San Marino 8-0 last night but to be honest San Marino would struggle in our Conference league.  Their record of scored 0, against 24 says it all!  Why all the headlines about Englands great win?!

Football treble.  Russia 8/15, Port Vale 4/5, Burton 17/20.
