Three meetings take place this afternoon following the good news that Wetherby's jumps card has been given the go ahead following an early morning inspection.  The other meetings are on the all-weather flat at Southwell and Lingfield where there are no reported problems.  The stable has no runners today.  Hopefully the snow that has settled around the yard overnight is not a bad omen and tomorrow's meeting at Ffos Las gets the green light - David has some good looking entries at the Welsh track including unbeaten bumper winner Heath Hunter (pictured above) and hat-trick seeking Qalinas, while there is also scheduled to be a seven race bumper card at Southwell.

I thought the performance of the day yesterday was undoubtedly that of Jupiter Rex who was notching a six-timer.  The six year old is in over fences at Newton Abbot on Saturday and I wouldn't be at all surprised to see him turn out again.  Despite his winning spree, he was only winning from a mark of 100 - trainer Venetia Williams obviously learnt a thing or two from Martin during her time at Pond House many years ago!

Well, what a dramatic football match last night between between England and Montenegro!  England were lucky to scrape a 1-1 draw in their World Cup Qualifier as they were terrible in the second half - as far as I can tell, this England team are never going to win a major competition so why doesn't the manager play more of our young stars of tomorrow?  Let's build for the future and stop living off past glories.  A lot of our players are completely over-rated and certainly nowhere near as good as they think they are!

In fairness I do try to put my hands up when I am wrong (and that would explain why I tend to get a lot of arm ache!) and I got it completely wrong with the cricket as England managed to draw with New Zealand.  Matt Prior scored a great 110 and it was good entertainment watching Monty Panesar diving for the crease to avoid being run out...he dived about six feet too soon and had to crawl along the ground to get in!  A great rear guard action to save the match.
