This afternoon there are three meetings taking place - two on the flat at Southwell and Kempton plus a jumps card at Exeter as well as another good meeting at Fairyhouse. The stable has six runners this afternoon up on Haldon Hill - they are Royal Mile, Royal Peak, High Ville, Quinte du Chatelet (pictured above), Bygones Sovereign and Basil Fawlty. Sadly the stable runners were a little disappointing yesterday with Grand Exit and Junior both failing to figure. It was a pity there was a false start in Ireland as Junior appeared to line up nicely initially, but was a bit more reluctant the second time around.

I am sure that Jupiter Rex will have his share of supporters this afternoon at Exeter as he seeks an amazing eight timer. The most incredible part of his sequence is the fact despite his winning spree, he is still able to run in this handicap hurdle from a mark of 100! I am sure that the handicapper will eventually catch up with him, but until then so long as the race does not come too soon after his most recent success, he should win again.

I hope that I have not upset Eddie or Tony this morning by successful opposing Manchester United yesterday as they were beaten by Chelsea in their FA Cup quarter-final replay...you only have to ask them and I am sure they will telll you that I am not right all that often! You don't want United to win everything do you?...Chelsea now take on the other Manchester club in the semi-final. Is there another Manchester club?!
Harry Redknapp did not look at all happy yesterday after his side QPR lost to Fulham. They look doomed for the drop and I reckon that Reading will be joining them, but to find the third team to be relegated is looking much harder.

It is getting increasingly difficult to predict the winners of the golf tournaments these days. Houston Open winner D A Points is the fourth winner this season to start at odds of 200/1 or longer! There is so little between the top players - I see that Rory McIlroy is a 10/1 shot to win the Texas Open this week. He looks like he needs his old set of clubs back if you ask me.
