There are three meetings taking place this afternoon with two jumps cards at Exeter and Kempton as well as a flat card at Southwell. The stable has just the one runner today, Off The Wall (pictured above, farside) who competes in the novices' hurdle at Exeter at 2.00pm - he will be ridden by Tom Scudamore. The ground at Exeter is officially soft (heavy in places), while Kempton is soft so the recent rain has definitely got into the ground and could find out all the top of the ground runners.
It's amazing to think that Tom Scudamore's wife Lottie is going to be competing in the London marathon at the weekend - she will be running in aid of the excellent charity Childrens Hospice South West. You can lend Lottie your support by visiting her webpage www.justgiving.com/charlotte-scudamore and donating whatever you can afford. If you intend to watch on the television, Lottie will be one of those double tailed-off at the back of the field - even interval training has failed to quicken her up! Good luck to Lottie, we will all be cheering for you.
I cannot believe what has happened in the Boston marathon. People have been killed and many others injured as bombs went off. How can anyone do this sort of thing? Let's hope they catch those responsible.

I was watching the Formula One motor racing from China at the weekend and it occured to me that you never see any women drivers. I had better be careful where I go with this! I guess you don't see many of them in the sport because there are no mirrors for them to do their make-up in...that seems to be all my wife uses hers for anyway! What about petrol coming down? I have a diesel car, but the way things are at the moment I will still have to run down to the newsagents to pick up my copy of the Racing Post!
