Henok Winning at Towcester last week

Today there are five meetings on, two jumps cards at Towcester and Kelso and flat cards at Wolverhampton, Windsor and Lingfield.  David has one runner at Towcester, Henok in the 4.30pm race.  He won on this track last week and carries a seven pound penalty which means he has to run with 12st5lb this afternoon.  He probably needs to brush up his jumping a little but Conor O'Farrell gave him a great ride the other day and a similar level of form should see him run well again.  Junior ran a cracker to finish second at Huntingdon yesterday.  He carried top weight and had to give 16 pounds to the winner Triolo D'Alene.  The trouble is the handicapper will probably put him up another pound or two for this good run and he is already rated 156 so life is not going to be easy.  It was just so nice to see him back to form after a couple of disappoing efforts, mind you these were in some top class races!  Midnight Tuesday ran okay at Ludlow with Kieron Edgar on board.  This was a step up on his previous couple of runs and he does appreciate the quicker ground.

It is good to see Tom Scu back in action today at Towcester.  He has taken a little while to get over his fall at Ayr but he was in the yard riding out on Saturday morning.  AP is obviuosly not back riding yet so Jason Maguire who was second to AP in the championship last season got the new season off to a flyer with a four timer at Wetherby.  You can back Maguire with a 25 head start on AP in the jockey's title which could be of some interest.  The flat jockeys title is between Richard HUghes and Ryan Moore.  I backed Richard Hughes last season and I am going to play my winnings up!

I was watching the racing yesterday and there was some great commentary from Derek Thompson.  " Here's Barry the Barber going to post.  He's named after a barber called Barry"!  Thomo is as sharp as ever!

I think AP will be a bit annoyed he is not riding at the moment as he is losing his jockey fee!  The Champ is number 91 in the sporting rich list with only £12 million!  Most of that is from rounds of drinks he has not bought!  Only joking and get well soon AP!

There is a great game on Sky tonight, Aston Villa versus Sunderland.  Forget about the football and just put a camera on Paolo Di Canio.  He runs about more on the touch line than the QPR players did yesterday!  Have a nice day.
