           Beyond on the Gallops

David has four runners at Ffos Las this afternoon.  It is a lovely sunny day so it is a great day to go racing if you have the chance to go.  Garryleigh, Third of the Third, Beyond and Mr Trilby run at the Welsh track where the ground is described as good.  Garryleigh and Third of the Third run in the maiden hurdle.  Garryleigh has to bounce back after a slightly below par effort at Chepstow last time but he should prefer the drier ground.  Third of the Third is making his Pond House debut in the same race.  The six year old was a bumper winner for David Evans and we are hoping for a nice run for the Dai Walters owned gelding who of course owns the racecourse as well!.  Beyond returns to hurdles after a couple of good runs on the flat last summer.  He is a pretty decent stayer on the flat and while he has not transfered all of theat to the obstacles as yet he will like the ground and should run okay.  Mr Trilby is also having his first start for the yard.  He is an Irish point to point winner but this looks a fairly competitive little race so it will be interesting to see how he gets on.  There are five other meetings on around thr country today on this bank holiday Monday and they are all on the flat at Warwick, Windsor, Kempton, Beverley and Bath.

On Saturday Dawn Approach was the impressive winner of the 2,000 Guineas by 5 lengths.  I see there was a £40,000 bet to win £55,000.  The colt always looked in command.  What about the second horse, Glory Awaits who was 150/1.  A pair of blinkers really seemd to do the trick and he ran a great race and picked up £86,000 in prize money.

In yesterday's action, Richard Hughes looked very emotional after winning the 1,000 Guineas on Sky Lantern.  I did not realise that it was his first classic winner.  The favourite Hot Snap still looked quite green as this was only her third run and she will improve again from this run.

In the football, the Liverpool, Everton game finished a goaless draw so Everton are still five points clear of their Merseyside rivals.  Man Utd lost at home 1-0 to Chelsea.  The London side looked like they wanted to win more than United.  I think Man Utd have got to spend some money in the summer and get some new players in if they are to be competitive in Europe next season.  Rafael was sent off for kicking Chelsea player Luiz.  It was the correct decision to send him off but it did not look good with Luiz laughing while lying down on the pitch pretending to be injured!  You could say a couple of Brazilian hard nuts!  (Hope you get that one!)

In the snooker, Ronnie O'Sullivan was not happy with the cloth on the table at the Crucible.  I was not happy when my wife threw me the cloth in the kitchen this morning!  Have a nice day!
