Water Garden on the Gallops
Garryleigh and Third of the Third finished second and third in the maiden hurdle at Ffos Las yesterday. Both ran good races and Garryleigh was only beaten half a length under a good ride from Tom Scu. Third of the Third made a pleasing Pond House debut and both horses look capable of winning races in the near future. Today there are five meetings, three on the flat at Yarmouth, Kempton and Catterick and two jumps cards at Exeter and Fakenham. David has two runners in the 7.25pm race at local track Exeter. Water Garden carries top weight but has Mikey Ennis on board claiming a valuable seven pounds. Laustra Bad is ridden by Francis Hayes who also claims seven and both have small chances in a typical open handicap hurdle. It should be a great evening of action so if you can get to Exeter on this lovely sunny day you are sure to have a great evening.
There is only one sporting event to really talk about however. Ronnie O'Sullivan won the World snooker Championships at the Crucible. It is probably one of the greatest sporting achievements of all time. Just imagine any sportsman having not played a competitve match for over a year and then becomnig World Champion! My golfing partner Ray Reardon says Ronnie is a genius and Ray was not a bad snooker player himself! What is nice is the fact that Ronnie is Ronnie even on live TV. In his victory speach he said his victory is "up and down like a whores drawrs"! Only Ronnie could come up with that on live TV!
In the football it was a great point for Sunderland last night against Stoke. They played a lot of the match with only 10 players so a great performance. There are seven teams near the bottom of the league within three points of each other, nervous times!
There is another good game on the TV this evening, Wigan versus Swansea. Wigan's annual act of trying to stay up continues and they look in good form at the moment and Swansea do not have a lot to play for. It should be a good watch.
