Mamlook - Winner of the Chester Cup in 2010

Today there are five meetings, a jumps card at Kelso, plus four flat cards at Chester, Southwell, Newcastle and Kempton.  David as one runner in the Chester Cup, Investissement.  It is a 2m21/2f trip but with 18 runners there are bound to be traffic problems on this tight left handed track.  I would not think there are any other tracks like Chester in the world!  Normally you get all of the footballers at this meeting posing, all with their own bottle of champagne!  Investissement had some good flat form for John Gosden in 2011 and has a mark of 97 and don't forget he did finish third in the Ebor.  He was slightly disappointing in three hurdle races this winter but he will prefer this better ground and with Willie Twiston-Davies in the saddle claiming a handy five pounds off we are hopeful that he will run okay.  David did win this race in 2010 with Mamlook and Richard Hughes riding that day.  It would be lovely to have a repeat performance this afternoon!

Water Garden finished third at Exeter last night and was beaten a long way.  Surely the handicapper will drop him a few pounds to make him competitive?  The same applies for Laustra Bad who was tailed off.

I like Michael Vaughn's tweet "no wonder Gerrard has a shoulder problem, he's been carrying Liverpool for 10 years"!  The former England cricket captain certainly knows how to win the Scouser's over!  It was a bad result for Wigan in the football last night.  They lost 3-2 at home to Swansea.  The Wigan defence were terrible and they look in deep trouble in the relegation battle now.

The bookies make Sir Alex Ferguson 7/4 on to retire and leave Man United.  The big bookies normally know and they must have had smart money on him leaving.  David Moyles is 11/10 on to take over.
