E Street Boy on the Gallops
I think it is amazing that the flat season is supposed to be fully underway while it is the quieter time for the jumping yards and yet today there are three race meetings and they are all jumping! They are at Kempton, Plumpton and Worcester and all three tracks are giving the ground as good or good to firm. David has two runners at Plumpton, Frankline Roosevelt and E Street Boy. Our seven year old E Street Boy goes for a three timer having won his last two starts. His latest win was at the track under Kieron Edgar and he is on board again this afternoon. He takes a very valuable eight pounds off and it just shows how handy it is to have young lads in the yard who can ride well. The weight concession is a big help and he should run well in this valuable handicap hurdle. Franklin Roosevelt won two chases last season but he does have to bounce back from a bit of a disappointing effort at Wetherby last time. Tom Scu rides.
Aidan O'Brien runs another of his Derby hopes at Leopardstown this afternoon called Battle of Marengo. Remember last year when his saddle slipped and he still broke the course record. he has won on heavy going but really wants good ground so it will be fascinating to see how he gets on. Aidan has got 33 Derby entries and this on is a 5/1 chance, he maybe shorter odds if he wins well later on!
Sir Alex Ferguson quits over stress. It must be hard for a multi millionair Sir Alex. What I call stress is playing table tennis in America in Chicago for $100 when I only had $50 in my pocket! Mind you I was a lot better that the people I was playing against! Those were the days!
I see even angling has put up prize money and they are going to have a £10,000 top prize. The final is going to be on the river Wye at Hereford. I am currently looking for my old fishing rod! Got any maggots?!
The trouble with being punctual is that there is rarely anyone there to appreciate it!
