What a finish to the Ryder Cup at Celtic Manor! For me it was one of the most memorable sporting events for quite a few years and the crowd support for the Europeans was just brilliant...even the rain and mist of Monday morning could not dampen proceedings. As I suggested, the final result was quite a bit closer than many were predicting. I had one bet on the entire event, and that was for McDowell to be the top Irish points scorer at 2/1 - I hope a few of you followed me in!
Anyway, I notice that McDowell is now as short as 5/4 for the Sports Personality of the Year award, with A P McCoy pushed out to 2/1 second favourite - so the bookies think that it will be a Northern Ireland 1-2. Talking of stupid prices, I see that the layers have already priced up the 2012 Ryder Cup and make the European's 6/5 to retain their trophy - I certainly won't be jumping in at that price and having to wait another two years to be paid out, afterall, there must be better 6/5 shots on offer this afternoon somewhere.

I feel really sorry for poor old Roy Hodgson at Liverpool. Hindsight is a wonderful thing, but he now must be asking why he ever left Fulham? At Fulham he would have been a hero for just keeping the team in the Premiership, but at Liverpool he is expected to win trophies, and with the team he has to work with I just don't see that happening anytime soon. Furthermore, his hands are tied as he doesn't have any money to spend on new players - it's a hard life having to make these calls on a paltry wage of around £2 million per year!
