AP with our owners - The Tracey's
Bad Girls ran okay to finish sixth in the Bumper at Uttoxeter yesterday. After pulling fairly hard early on she did not really appreciate the rain softened ground but kept plugging away and our four year old will have learned a lot from the experience. David does not have any runners today but there are six meetings, three on the flat at York, Salisbury and Newmarket and three jumps cards at Ludlow, Perth and Fontwell. All eyes will be on the 6.05pm race at Ludlow where champ AP makes his comeback on the favourite Church Field. It looks a good ride to have on his first return to action for a month and hopefully he should get off the mark for the season at the first time of asking. Jason Maguire has a lead of 15 in the Championship but surely this will not be enough to stop AP winning another title but a long way to go and time will tell.
In yesterday's action I was impressed by a horse called Riverboat Springs. It was only a small race at Bath but I was taken with the colt who won first time out and looked impressive. he looks one to follow and keep on the right side of.
In the paper I see that Nigel Twiston-Davies is 56 today. He doesn't seem to have changed much in all the years I have known him! Happy Birthday Nigel, I hope the boys have remembered a card! I think he could have a nice birthday winner today to, The Cockeny Mackem runs at Perth and I think he should be able to follow up his course win of last month.
Football is a funny old game sometimes and the best team on the night does not always win. I was pleased to see Chelsea win last night but I thought Benfica were the better team. Rafa Benitezs has had a good season since coming in as Chelsea manager but he still looks like getting the chop! It seems to me that most chairmen don't know too much about football these days.
You can alays tell when the cricket test series is going to start as it rains and gets cold! England versus New Zealand starts at 11am on Sky Sports today. Have a good day.
