Towcester Trio

There are five meetings taking place today, four on the flat at Newcastle, Nottingham, Brighton and Pontefract as well as a jumps meeting at Towcester.  The stable has three runners at Towcester - Garryleigh didn't run at Newton Abbot yesterday as the ground was a bit quick so if he takes his chance he should go well, especially with this stiff track likely to suit.  Our other runners are Diamonds Return (pictured above) and Smooth Classic.

We had just the one runner at Newton Abbot yesterday - Royal Peak could finish only eighth in the opening handicap hurdle.  I had to give the commentary to the owner who is currently on holiday in Mexico - I made it sound exciting so as to not spoil his break!  There were quite a few non-runners at the Devon track yesterday owing to the unsuitable ground.

I find it absolutely incredible that another seven of the Mahmood Al Zarooni horses have tested positive for anabolic steroids.  What on earth was he thinking of?  Or perhaps he just wasn't thinking at all...it is another sad day for the Godolphin organisation.

Chelsea had a right result when it was announced the Jose Mourinho will leave Real Madrid next month, leaving the way clear for him to rejoin the Blues at Stamford Bridge - the best part for them?...they won't even have to pay any compensation!  I am sure that the 'special one' will be given plenty of money to spend to try to get the title back from Manchester United.  I see that United have drifted to 2/1 to win the Premiership again next season and I wouldn't be at all surprised to see that price get bigger still if the Arsenal manager decides to spend some of their money.  The trouble is, it would seem that Arsene Wenger thinks it is his own money that he is spending - should Arsenal fork out for three or four quality players, I reckon that 16/1 about the Gunners could be a fair price.

In golf, I see that Ian Poulter is having trouble with his preparations for the PGA Championship at Wentworth...he has run out of fudge hair shaper!  How can he expect to win without his hair gel?!  Have a nice day.
