Awful England!

Today there are five meetings - four on the flat at Sandown, Brighton, Lingfield and Hamilton as well as a jumps card at Wetherby.  The Wetherby meeting does look interesting, especially as champion jockey A P McCoy looks to have some fairly well-fancied rides.  I particularly liked the explanation trainer David O'Meara gave for the improved form of Loose Preformer to win at the track last time out - he said that the gelding had improved 'for being ridden more patiently'.  It's funny, if I had a horse that needed being ridden more patiently, A P wouldn't necessarily be the first that comes to mind!  Anyway, the good news for those of you thinking of having a wager...the champ is on board again this afternoon.

How bad was the English football team last night as they failed to put away the Republic of Ireland at Wembley?  This must be one of the worst England football teams of the last twenty years (and that's saying something!).  They don't seem to know what they are doing - personally I would go for a younger manager with some fresh ideas - surely our players cannot be as bad as they showed last night, or are they?!

It looks like Gareth Bale could be going for a record transfer fee of over £80 million.  There are several clubs interested - if he doesn't ask for a transfer, I believe he gets 10% of the fee.  I don't see why he wouldn't go - for that sort of money I could probably put up with living in Spain or Italy for three years...or even West London!

I was thumbing through my medical dictionary the other day and was amazed at how accurate it was.  The definition of shin...'a device used for finding furniture in the dark'!  Keep smiling.
