If you are a keen race-goer and you live in the north of the country I am afraid that you are right out of luck today. There are four meetings taking place, two on the flat at Salisbury and Lingfield and two over jumps at Fontwell and Worcester - it all looks very tricky this afternoon. The stable has four runners at Worcester's evening meeting - Basil Fawlty, Lola Galli, Bad Girls and Home Run. Lola Galli ran okay in a similar contest at Ffos Las and will know more today, while Basil Fawlty (pictured above) was still travelling okay when capsizing at the fourteenth last time out at Exeter.
We drew a blank yesterday at Newton Abbot although Hugo Drax ran respectably to finish fifth. He was outpaced in the closing stages and looked to me as though he might benefit from a longer trip, while Smooth Classic also ran well in third in the 2m5 1/2f handicap chase.
There was a right touch landed in the first at the Devon track yesterday as Just Cloudy was backed from 12/1 into 11/2 before obliging in good style, while Little Eaglet was also given a positive mention before obliging at 7/2 - a good day for punters by the sound of it.

Apparently Jose Mourinho is no longer 'the special one' but is instead 'the happy one'! I can't say I'm surprised...I reckon if I had a job (and a salary) like his, I would be pretty happy too!

I see that Sergio Garcia and Tiger Woods have shaken hands on the practice area ahead of the Merion Tournament that takes place this week. So it looks like the toys are back in the pram for now. I wonder if Tiger crushed Sergio's hand?...he is a big chap!
The US Open course looks a bit tight to me - it could suit the shorter hitters who keep the ball straight and on the fairways.
