War Singer on the gallops
Today there are seven meetings on, six on the flat at York, Musselburgh, Sandown, Bath, Leicester and Lingfield plus a jumps card at Hexham. David has one runner on the flat today at York, War Singer runs in the 2.05pm race. It is a flat handicap for lady amateur riders and David has booked top Irish lady Jane Managn to ride. Remember, she won on The Liquidator at the Punchestown Festival back in April. The Post has our six year old as 6/1 favourite but it is a very open race. Also remember that the last time we actually saw War Singer in action was at Aintree in the charity flat race which he won! He had Tony Dobbin on board that day and fingers crossed it will be the same result today!
I was a bit disappointed with Street Entertainer yesterday at Musselburgh. He looked a little short of speed in the last furlong so maybe he needs stepping up in trip a little? It was a fairly slowly run race which would not have been ideal and I am sure he can win again. It is a good competitive card at York this afternoon including a charity race at 5.50pm. Some of the top trainers have runner including Easterby and Fahey and I am sure it will be a good race although I bet some of the jockeys had a sleepless night and most will just want to stay on board!
I wonder whey Ladies days are so popular at race tracks?! Musselburgh was a sell out for the fifth year in a row yesterday. Why not have more ladies days? I like ladies day at Royal Ascot, some of the clobber they wear has to be seen to be believed!
One of my US Open golf selections, Luke Donald is still in with a chance of winning. The last English golfer to win this title was Nick Faldo in 1996. Just keep it straight Luke and we're in with a chance!
The new Man City boss, Manuel Pellegrini is on a hiding to nothing. I say nothing...he is obviously getting paid a fortune.... but he has got to win something in his first season. I thought Mancini did a great job. Time will tell. Hvae a nice day.
