Rules are rules and Richard Hughes broke them, there can be no arguing with that. I have to say though, that I think the six day ban handed down as punishment is perhaps a little harsh. It means that Hughes will be out of action between 16th and 22nd October inclusive, and it has put a real dampener on the jockey's title race - Paul Hanagan's first jockey's title now looks to be signed, sealed and delivered. In the short-term, both men are still going for everything - Hanagan has eight booked rides today, while Hughes has seven.

Looking through the results from Kempton's Wednesday night card, I notice that in one of the races, the prize money for finishing third was a paltry £201.60...Racing For Change? More like racing for small change!

I must admit, I was amused by Hadden Frost's quote in the Racing Post, "As a friend was kind enough to drive me I was in no danger of getting a speeding ticket". I have been in a car with Hadden, with Johnny Farrelly acting as co-pilot (and I do mean "pilot"!) - I think that it was one of the most frightening experiences of my life, and the Irish owner that was travelling with us wanted the car stopped in order that he could get out and walk! I definitely think that Hadden should stick to race riding and not any sort of driving job!
Hadden Frost - should definitely stick to riding horses!
