It's day four of Royal Ascot this afternoon and that is obviously the highlight of the day, although there is plenty of other quality action taking place at Redcar, Newmarket and Goodwood, while the stable has two runners at the jumps fixture at Market Rasen.  My Brother Sylvest takes in a competitive looking handicap chase, while Basil Fawlty runs under a penalty for last week's Worcester success.

Oddjob was the best of our runners last night at Ffos Las as he stayed on to be second in the three mile handicap chase.  He handled the ground well and should be capable of winning from a mark of 103.  Third Of The Third was perhaps an unlucky loser earlier on the card - he was just about in front when capsizing at the last and hopefully David will be able to find him something similar in the coming months.

Above we have a great picture of a couple of well-known horses out at grass on their summer holidays.  Dynaste (nearest the camera) and Swing Bill are the best of friends and are having a great time in a lovely big pasture.  All they do all day is eat - it certainly sounds good to me!  As you can see from the photograph, they are looking a picture and Dynaste in particular has done very well.

What an amazing 'Ladies Day' it was at Royal Ascot yesterday afternoon with emotional winners for Lady Jane Cecil and Her Majesty The Queen.  There was barely a dry eye in the house as Tom Queally steered Riposte to victory in the Ribblesdale and I am sure that the late Sir Henry would have been very proud of his former charge and indeed his whole team.  Meanwhile Estimate provided The Queen with the first Ascot Gold Cup winner for a ruling monarch in history and Joanna Morgan trained the winner (Roca Tumu) of the Britannia.

There is a great picture in the Racing Post of motor mouth John McCririck with several ladies.  Does anyone have a picture of Big Mac with his mouth closed?!  I wonder what the ladies do with all of their hats once the meeting is over?  They could make tents or car covers with them judging by the size of some of them!

I was interested to note that the viewing figures for Royal Ascot are well down on last year.  This Channel 4 team are much too technical and there is no humour attached...let's get the old team back.  Also, why is it that there is an American fashion correspondent?  Have you seen how the Americans dress?!
