There is plenty of action to keep us entertained today with five meetings taking place at Carlisle, Salisbury, Bath and Kempton as well as a jumps card at Worcester. The stable has three runners over the sticks - Weekend Millionair, Bad Girls and Qulinton. The 5.15pm race sees Qulinton running in a handicap hurdle - the winner of the 2011 Summer Plate handicap chase at Market Rasen from a mark of 135, he looks reasonably treated from a hurdles mark 15lbs lower and is an interesting contender. Weekend Millionair (pictured above), three times a winner over hurdles since joining us at Pond House makes his debut in the novices' chase.
The two lady jockeys that I keep raving about did me proud again yesterday at Brighton. Nicole Nordblad and Jemma Marshall won the first two races on the card and continue to impress, while Cathy Gannon went on to partner the winner of the 4.15pm race - you could say it was ladies' day at the seaside track!
Well done to Carlisle racecourse who have some very good prize money on offer for their card today, with two races worth in excess of £18,000 each. This is a really good effort and they deserve to have plenty of racegoers through the turnstiles.

After the second day of Wimbledon, there is already only one British lady tennis player left in the tournament. It tells a story about the sad state of the ladies' game in this country. Having said that, what a triumph for young Laura Robson as she beat 10th seed Maria Kirilenko, although I am not quite sure that it deserves the front page national newspaper coverage that it is receiving...it just shows how rare it is for a British girl to win a match at Wimbledon. Indeed, it is 36 years since Virginia Wade won the championship and I reckon it is going to be another 36 years before another one does the same! I think I must have got out of bed on the wrong side this morning!

New Zealand beat England by five runs in the first 20 over international cricket match yesterday and I am starting to think that there are too many of these type of matches taking place. Roll on the Ashes when we can give those Aussies a good stuffing! On which note I will leave you with this thought...When do you see an Aussie batsman walk? When his car has broken down! Keep smiling...
