It is a good day for followers of the flat with no less than six meetings taking place at Doncaster, Musselburgh, Yarmouth, Newcastle, Chester and Newmarket, while there is also a good meeting taking place in Ireland at the Curragh.  Of course, the Irish meeting carries lots more prize money than any of the fixtures in this country.  I reckon it could be a good day for former champion jockey Ryan Moore who has a good book of rides and could come away with at least a couple of winners as he bids to keep pace with Richard Hughes in the jockey's championship.  The stable has no runners today, but will have a runner on the flat when Togiak (pictured above) participates at Windsor tomorrow.

I see there was a 1/50 winner at Yarmouth yesterday - I wonder if anyone had any money on the colt...he was called Seamless?  If he had been beaten you would have been potless!  These long odds-on favourites do not always oblige - I remember a 1/14 chance getting beaten over hurdles and worse still, I know someone who had backed it just to cover his expenses!  I won't mention any names Stuart...

Has anyone seen former rugby player turned pundit, Stuart Barnes' interview with Martin about sporting legends on Sky over the last couple of days?  Stuart spent the duration of the interview trying to get all the secrets out of MCP about his training techniques and gambles.  Poor old Stuart had more chance of getting Arsenal to spend money in the transfer window...and by the way, it wasn't this Stuart who backed the 1/14 loser!

Rory McIlroy shot a 74 in the Irish Open yesterday and is already 7 shots behind another Irishman, Shane Lowry.  The first thing he should do is get rid of his Nike driver...even he doesn't like it!  You golfers will know that if you are short on confidence with your driver, you are in trouble.

Serena Williams says she will play Andy Murray in a tennis match.  What she does not say is that Andy's side of the net will be the size of a football pitch and hers will be the size of a dining room table!  Have a nice day...
