It was a good day for the yard yesterday as we enjoyed an across the card double with a winner on the flat at Salisbury as well as a jumps winner at Uttoxeter. Beyond was David's first winner at Salisbury as he landed the 1m6f handicap under leading apprentice jockey Thomas Brown. They went really quickly throughout and Beyond stayed much better than his rivals. Meanwhile over at Uttoxeter, Tom Scudamore gave Kusadasi a fine, front-running ride. It was rather reminiscent of the rides his father Peter would produce in his time as stable jockey to Martin. It just goes to show that Kusadasi will handle any ground...and I thought he needed it soft!

It was a good weekend for sport all round. Did anyone see the British Grand Prix yesterday? Can anyone tell me, if this is the pinnacle of motor sport why do they insist on using remoulded tyres on their cars?! Four of the cars had blow outs at high speeds yesterday, including Lewis Hamilton...at least he has his girlfriend to console him, I am told she is a real pussycat!

It should be a good day at Wimbledon today. The British fans have Andy Murray and Laura Robson to look forward to...I wonder when the last time was that there were British men and women in the second week of the championship?! Both championships look very open (with the exception of Serena Williams in the womens), especially with so many of the seeds already out.

I had David's three year old son Jack on the golf course for the first time yesterday. You have to start them young these days! He certainly gives the ball a smack and clearly has more ability than his father - he hits the ball occasionally too!
