Weekend Jottings!

If you are going to Salisbury racing tomorrow you can get admittance to the track free of charge.  I am glad to see the track following up last year's initiative, which was a huge success with 4,313 people attending (not at all bad for a Monday).  Incidentally, the meeting is sponsored by our yard sponsors Bathwick Tyres who do so much to support and promote racing in this country.

I wonder if when he painted his picture of broodmares and foals, that artist George Stubbs would ever have imagined in his wildest dreams that his work would go on sale for between ten and fifteen million pounds?!  Previously the highest bid for a Stubbs' original was £3.2 million fifteen years ago...surely at that sort of price, you wouldn't want to be putting it over the fireplace?!

I see that as well as the horse racing, Ffos Las are also hosting pig racing today.  I don't mind telling you - I have backed a few pigs down the years, in fact some of them were complete swines!  I made a few rash(er) decisions and didn't collect the bacon!  Sorry, I had better leave it there...anyway, if you are going along to Ffos Las this afternoon you may see pigs fly!  Keep smiling.
