           Basil Fawlty on the gallops

David has six runners spread across the two jumps meetings at Worcester and Uttoxeter.  There are five meetings on in total today, three on the flat at Lingfield, Catterick and Sandown plus jumping at Uttoxeter this afternoon and Worcester tonight.  Purple 'N Gold is our first runner of the day and he is making his hurdling debut in the 2.50pm race.  He is a 76 rated flat performer who ran well to finish fourth on his latest start at Nottingham earlier this month.  He has been schooling well at home but the one they all have to beat is the Fergal O'Brien's Thunder Sheik who has won his last two starts and the form looks solid.  High Ville was a winner at Uttoxeter last week and runs with a seven pound penalty this afternoon.  He won with any amount in hand that day and though is form is a bit in and out and similar level of form would give him sounds claims.  Basil Fawlty kicks off our evening runners at Worcester in the 6.20pm race.  He was the winner at the track on his latest start and he looks to have a fair chance while Prime Location and Hugo Drax will have to improve on recent runs.  Laustra Bad in the last runner of the day in the 9pm race.  He was a good third at Uttoxeter last time and if he reproduces that form he would have a chance in the handicap hurdle.  We look to have some fair chances today so fingers crossed!

I would like to say Happy Birthday to Tom Scu's grandad Michael Scudamore who is 81 today.  He won the National on Oxo, the only Scu so far to win a Grand National!

I was looking at all today's racecards in my paper this morning and I see that the biggest field of runners is in the 7.55pm at Worcester.  It is a 0-95 selling handicap hurdle over 2 1/2 miles.  It has 15 runners but it does seem there are a lot of poor form horses about.  In the old days we would have been looking to maybe buy the winner or claim one of the runners but there does not look any likely candidates in this race!

It will cost Chelsea £80 million in fee and wages for Wayne Rooney.  I am not sure I would want to pay out that sort of money.  What does it make Van Persie worth?

Talking about dropping your foot in it.  A man walked up to the desk at Gullen golf club to ask if he could get something to eat.  The lady behind the desk asked "have you played the course sir?".  He said no and she replied that she he could not eat.  Then the man said could you tell the chef that Sandy Lyle is here to see him please.  The woman behind the desk obviuosly was not a big golf fan!  Have a nice day.
