There are four meetings taking place this afternoon with three on the level at Thirsk, Windsor and Wolverhampton as well as a jumps fixture at Worcester.  The stable has three runners this afternoon at Worcester - Palace Jester, Diamonds Return and Stratford scorer Royal Peak.  Royal Peak (pictured above) ran another cracker last time out at Stratford from a 15lbs higher mark when just denied by an inspired ride by A P McCoy...I do get fed up saying that!  He came well clear of the third and a similar level of form would give him every chance again today.  I can't believe that he is still for sale - to me, at £2,500 for a 25% share he looks like the ideal entry point for a first time racehorse owner.

Yesterday's runner High Ville finished a creditable second to Pure Faith.  He was quite well beaten in the end and looks as though he could do with coming down a few pounds in the weights (as the winner was only rated 1lb superior to us going into the race) although I don't suppose that will happen!  I am sure he will make a nice chaser in time.

The Premiership is back and the top teams are winning as usual!  Manchester Utd looked good against Swansea - what a signing Robin Van Persie has been, scoring two of United's four goals.  Chelsea won 2-0 meaning 'The Special One' was able to celebrate his return to England's top table.  The biggest surprise I suppose was Arsenal losing 3-1 to Aston Villa.  It looks like the Gunners need about four new players and they certainly don't look like they are up to winning the league at this time.  Fans will get pretty upset if miserly Wenger doesn't open his chequebook soon!

Manchester City are home to Newcastle tonight and I will certainly be watching with interest to see how all the new City players perform!

What an amazing world boxing title victory for Darren Barker.  He got up off the floor from a body shot to beat Australian Daniel Geale on points in Atlantic City.  Mind you, it was a real battle and the winner's face looked like a real mess afterwards, although it didn't look too pretty beforehand either...don't tell him I said that!

The European lady golfers won the Solheim Cup for the first time in America over the weekend - a great team effort.  So much for buying money on the Americans!
