Not for the first time I was watching Luke Harvey doing a pub crawl yesterday on Attheraces. The former jump jockey turned presenter was at Laytown for the beach meeting in Ireland. While he was there he had a little paddle in the sea, so Harvey successfully managed to upset all of the fish as well as all of the pub regulars! The form stood up fairly well on the sand with four of the six winners being well-backed favourites...I bet the bookmakers wish the tide had never gone out.
There are four meetings to look forward to this afternoon with three on the level at Lingfield, Bath and Kempton as well as a jumps card at Southwell
I am intrigued by this ongoing debate about holding race meetings on a Good Friday. I can't say that I am in favour of the idea, however we race on other religious days - it is a holiday for most people, even though most staff in racing have to work. The trouble is, why would you want to clash with the fantastic Open Days that they put on at some of these training centres?
It's early days but Jonjo O'Neill has been in good form through the summer months and is currently at the top of the trainers' table. Indeed, he is already over £200,000 in front of champion trainer Nicky Henderson - Jonjo has most of J P McManus' horses...it could be an interesting title race this year.

I see that footballer Tom Huddlestone ran out of petrol 20 metres from a petrol station. With all of the money these footballers earn you would think that they would be able to afford to keep their cars filled-up at all time!

Luckily Eoin Morgan and Ravi Bopara scored excellent centuries to dig England out of a hole in the cricket against Ireland. The pair put on a world record 226 for the fifth wicket. It is a little worrying that other than our usual Test team players, we do not have a strong squad of good players.
