It's great to be back with some jumping action today and we should now go through almost uninterrupted until the end of the season. There are three meetings this afternoon - one on the flat at Hamilton as well as two National Hunt fixtures at Plumpton and Uttoxeter. The stable has no less than five runners - four at Uttoxeter (Royal Peak, Bathwick Man, Sir Frank and Standing Ovation) and one at Plumpton (Purple 'N Gold). Purple 'N Gold continues to run well and prove himself a shrewd claim - he was an unlucky loser on the level at Sandown last time and looks to have leading claims reverting to hurdles under Tom Scudamore. Royal Peak (pictured above) seems to have improved with the step-up in trip, while Bathwick Man has gone close the last twice and is another with sound prospects.
I see that Frankie Dettori is stirring things up a bit! It is Newmarket's Open Day today and there is a football match between the trainers and jockeys. The Italian said 'these old time trainers don't stand a chance against us agile jockeys!' I wouldn't be at all surprised if the old-timers put in a few crunching tackles - Mick Quinn will manage their side (he could just sit on any of the jockeys!). The Open Day starts at 9.00am, there will be horses exercising on the gallops and thirty yards will be opening their doors to the public - if you are near Newmarket it looks like being a great day out.

I was only talking about ex-average footballer Robbie Savage the other day and now it seems that he has scored an own-goal. Robbie is ambassador for a well-know chain of highstreet bookmakers but said yesterday, 'I'm not into horses. I don't like horses at all!'...I reckon he could be looking at a red card there!

I know the new season is only five games old, but I really do think that if Spurs are going to finish in the top 4 of the Premiership, they need to win today against Cardiff. Tottenham look to have done a good job in the transfer market and they play entertaining football, now they just need to start winning!
