No runners for Pond House this weekend but today there are six meetings, five on the flat at Newmarket, Haydock, Chester, Ripon and Wolverhampton plus a jumps card at Market Rasen.  The juvenile hurdle at Market Rasen looks interesting.  The Alan King trained Puroble Man is rated 93 on the flat and cost £130,000 while the Henderson runner Royal Irish Hussar is a 94 rated flat horse.  Could these be Triumph hurdle horses?  Time will tell!

I like Richard Hannon's riding instructions to Richard Hughes - go down slowly and come back fast!  Quite often MCP's instructions were just jump out and make all, the fittest horses win!  It is not quite that easy these days but it must be nice for the jockeys with such simple instructions!

At the moment in the westcountry we have rain, thunder and lightening.  We will certainly have some flooding so keep an eye out for any going changes at today's meetings. It is Ashley Farrants 42nd birthday today.  Ashley was champion point to point rider in 2004 when riding for David.  He re-joined the Pond House team earlier this year and is incharge of all the schooling which is a big help.  I would think the odd bottle of beer will be downed tonight!!

I watched Willie Carson dancing around after Chriselliam won at Newmarket yesterday.  Strictly Come Dancing is just starting again, perhaps Willie could be Clive Brittain's partner or even Janette Crankie who would be about the right size!
