There are four meetings taking place this afternoon, two on the flat at Ascot and Wolverhampton as well as two jumps meetings at Fontwell and Hexham.  David casts his net far and wide today as the stable has runners at both meetings - Street Entertainer and Kings Palace at Fontwell and Decoy at Hexham.  Kings Palace (picture above) looked to be a really useful recruit when bolting up in a Plumpton bumper last season and followed that up with a narrow defeat in an Ascot Listed contest - he will be partnered by Tom Scudamore this afternoon.  Meanwhile champion jockey A P McCoy has the leg up aboard Street Entertainer and Conor O'Farrell makes the long journey up to Hexham for the ride aboard Decoy.  It is his first ride at the track, so let's hope that it is a lucky one!

People think that I can be easily bought...well I guess they are right.  I recently received a ball marker and pitch repairer from Gleneagles Golf Club - in return I must no longer run down the Sweaties!  Sean, many thanks for the kind gift - a ball marker would have been more than sufficient!

I see that Aidan O'Brien's first hurdles runner in ten years, Carriganog trotted up under Robbie Power at Clonmel.  The only surprise was that it was a 9/2 shot...as I said yesterday, I wish Aidan all the success in the world, but I hope he sticks to the flat!

So Amir Khan will fight Floyd Mayweather...he has to be doing it for the money.  I reckon the bookies have it about right - they have priced the American up at 1/10.  He is completely different class and looks sure to knock Khan out.  I suppose a few million quid will help soften the blow for the Bradford fighter - hell, I might almost take up boxing myself!

Well done to Wigan who won their first ever football match in Europe yesterday as they beat Maribor 3-1.  Let's not get carried away though, Maribor are bottom of the league with two losses having conceded eight goals.

I am doing well for gifts - as well as my ball marker and pitch repairer, I was recently also given a great book on golfing jokes.  According to Mark Twain 'it is good sportsmanship to not pick up lost golf balls while they are still rolling!'
