Today there are four meetings taking place, two on the flat at Nottingham and Kempton as well as jumps cards at Towcester and Ludlow.  Surprisingly, it is the National Hunt meeting at Ludlow that has the most prize money on offer today with £60,000 up for grabs, so well done to them.  The stable has one runner today, Purple 'N Gold who goes in the 1m3f handicap at Kempton - he has won at the track twice previously and has been running with credit over hurdles as well, winning at Uttoxeter (pictured above).  I think he will stay this trip and former champion jockey Ryan Moore is in the saddle again and is an obvious positive.

Mr Magnier had to delve deep yesterday to secure a Gallileo yearling at the Newmarket sales, eventually securing the purchase at £3.6million. It was a record price for a yearling and it is not difficult to see why when you consider that he is a brother to Oaks runner-up Secret Gesture.  I suppose at least the horse doesn't know how much he cost, while the owners will have a bit of a wait before they find out if he is any good!  At that sort of price I am not sure I would even want to let him out of his box.

Don't forget to check out the video below for this week's staff interview with Gerry Supple as he gives us his horse to follow for the forthcoming jumps season...

I see that England footballer Jack Wilshere has suggested that England do not need Adnan Januzaj.  The Manchester United star has to wait five years before he can qualify to play for England...surely Wilshere is not worried about his place in the national squad?!  While we would obviously be foolish to turn down players of his ability, I do Wilshere has a point however, to play for England you should be born in England.

Blackpool manager Paul Ince has been handed a five match stadium ban.  I have never heard of that sort of ban before...imagine getting banned so you can't go to your place of work!

Despite seemingly no longer being the dominant force in golf, Tiger Woods is still the biggest name in the sport by a mile.  He gets a £2million appearance fee to play in the Turkish Airlines Open next month.  I know what they mean now when you hear the expression 'you can't lose'!

I wouldn't say my golf game is bad, but if I grew tomatoes they would come up sliced...I reckon that is a comment that could also apply to Ashley Farrant judging by his video on David's blog last week.
