It looks like being a busy day with four meetings taking place this afternoon - there are flat cards at Newmarket and Wolverhampton as well as National Hunt fixtures at Uttoxeter and Wetherby. The stable has runners at both jumps meetings and Tom Scudamore has a good book of rides. Indeed, he will face something of a 'Treasure Hunt' type challenge (you may recall the 80's Channel 4 programmed with Anneka Rice) as he rides Centasia (pictured above) in the 1.20pm at Uttoxeter before flying across to Wetherby in the helicopter to ride Ainsi Fideles in the 2.45pm race. I hope it is worth it! It is good to see Timmy Murphy back in the late David Johnson's colours aboard Famousandfearless on the same card - the horse is owned by the Bravo Partnership of which DJ was a member.
I see that A P McCoy travels over to Ireland today looking for another winner en route to 4,000. Grade One winner Jezki would appear to be the reason he has travelled across the pond - the race is covered on Attheraces at 2.35pm.
There is a great picture in today's Racing Post of a punter sitting on the bank watching the racing at Stratford. He looks comfortable in his chair among the weeds on the overgrown bank. It looks like someone's garden that I know!

Mrs Barnes is a bit sick this morning after Halloween yesterday. She bought loads of sweets for the local children for trick or treat...the problem is that nobody knocked on our door! She frightened all of the kids away last year with her face pack! We are stuck with a hall full of sweets and as I am diabetic, she has to eat the lot herself!

Phil Taylor plays in the Coral Masters in Scotland today. My pub darts mate tells me that 'The Power' is playing the best darts of his career. He will get plenty of stick from the home supporters, although I am very tempted by the 13/8 that is currently on offer with Boylesports!

Apparently there is talk of Rye House speedway star Olly Allen being axed. I was once fishing on the River Lee at Rye House and there was a dog track there. One of the dogs must have run badly as somebody had thrown it in the river! Don't worry, the dog was fine...I wonder if the track is still there? We didn't catch any dog fish!
