There are four meetings this afternoon - two over the sticks at Warwick and Hexham as well as two all-weather flat meetings at Lingfield and Kempton.  The most amazing thing?...Kempton have the most prize money on offer with £85,000 up for grabs - that is even more than Fairyhouse!  The card includes a £22,000 Listed race and a two mile handicap worth almost £12,000...mind you, they do have two races worth £1,940.70 just to balance the books!

Our sole runner yesterday, Lola Galli performed creditably enough when finishing third in the mares' bumper at Lingfield.  She has finished placed on her last three starts and there should be a race within her compass.

Martin and Carol held a Poirot Party last week to celebrate the final episode of this popular long running drama.  All of the guests dressed up in themed costume to see the great detective's last mystery, but who do you think sported the best moustache?  Would it be Poirot Pipe, Supersleuth Simon or Mysterious Malde?!  You can judge for yourself by the pictures below...

I watched A P McCoy take a horrible looking fall at the last aboard Dursey Sound at Fakenham yesterday.  Of course, the great man picked himself straight up - I cannot begin to tell you how tough these jockeys are...if it had been a footballer, he would have laid down and waited for a stretcher to appear!

Talking of football, there was a good result in the international match between England and Germany at Wembley last night as the home team were only beaten 1-0.  That has to be considered an improvement after being beaten 2-0 by Chile last week!  Personally I thought that England were useless against what was essentially a German 'B' team - as far as I can tell, the problem is the FA appoint managers that are like themselves when they should be considering young managers with fresh ideas.  We certainly will not be winning anything on these showings - why not bring along a younger side?  The team we have are a bunch of workmanlike players without much in the way of skills or trickery.  At least the cricket starts tonight in Australia...
