2 Exeter Runners Today

There are four meetings taking place this afternoon - two over the jumps at Exeter and Sandown as well as all-weather flat action from Lingfield and Wolverhampton.  The stable has two runners at Exeter this afternoon; Alderluck and Prideofthecastle...I hope they get some sunshine up on Haldon Hill otherwise it is going to feel like a very cold day at the Devon track.  Alderluck (pictured above) participates in the four mile Devon Marathon handicap chase - he stays well and is partnered by Mikey Ennis, who has won aboard our ten year old and he claims a handy 7lbs off his back reducing his burder to 11-4.  The trip will take some getting on this stiff track and he looks to have sound claims.

Didn't Red Seventy run a good race to finish second in the maiden hurdle at Wincanton yesterday afternoon?  He finished runner-up to a Henderson hotpot called Stand To Reason - they think the winner is okay, so either Red Seventy has run well or Stand To Reason is over-rated.  I guess Red Seventy's next race will tell us if they are right.  Vilja performed creditably to finish fourth on the same card and looks capable of winning a race, while Decoy ran a bit better to finish third in the handicap hurdle - he could need a longer trip.

I see that Manchester United are now 20/1 shots to win the Premier League.  The bookmakers are saying that no one is rush in to back them.  I wonder how long it has been since United were last 20/1 chances to win the title?

I was watching the coverage of the second Ashes Test match last night and things are not looking great for England I'm afraid.  They will need to bat well even to achieve a draw - the pitch looks fast, so let's hope that our batsmen do not get out to any silly shots.  Michael Vaughan has been asked to be the England catching coach...dont panic, I am only joking!

It just goes to show how much confidence England football manager Roy Hodgson instills in the national side.  He recently said he would 'put a tenner on us'...sorry, but it doesn't fill me with confidence!
