Hill's Hurdles Debut

This afternoon there are two National Hunt meetings taking place at Kelso and Warwick - there is also the small matter of racing from Sha Tin (although there is quite a time difference!) and the prize money there is absolutely out of this world.  The stable has just one runner this afternoon, the progressive four year old Tullyesker Hill (pictured above) who participates in the 2m5f maiden hurdle at Warwick.  Tullyesker Hill has won his last couple of starts and was impressive in a Plumpton bumper on his first outing for the yard last time. It looks like quite a competitive little race and Tom Scudamore is in the saddle once again.

I loved the quote from Hayley Turner following her return to the saddle after being sidelined with another injury.  She said 'I've missed getting up at stupid o'clock, sitting on the M25 and getting sand thrown in my face, I honestly wouldn't have it any other way!'  She is obviously pleased to be back on the beach.

Before you think about booking your tickets out to the World Cup football in Brazil perhaps you ought to heed the words of a friend of mine who is a teacher over there.  He says that all of the prices will go up in order to extort the tourists, while outside of the major cities, the remainder of the country is very primitive.  There will be plenty of muggings and people getting robbed...it sounds a bit like good old Britain really!  I jest, but you have been warned...

There is a good match to look forward to this afternoon at 4pm as Arsenal take on Everton.  This is the first big test for the Gunners - they will have to beat Everton at home if they are going to win the Premiership.

If you are feeling a bit flush this weekend I see there are a couple of interesting personal car numberplates for sale.  The first is 1 APP - I suppose this would be appropriate for computer boffins or top apprentice jockeys.  It could be yours for the mere sum of £40,000!  If you are after a cheaper plate, perhaps you should consider 1 OBB - a snip at only £15,000!  It seems like an awful lot of money to me, in fact they are worth more than my car!

I went into Tesco's the other day and while I was sat down ready to eat, the waitress asked if there was anything I wanted on my burger.  I said '£5 each way!'  Boom boom...
