Red Sherlock after winning at Cheltenham

There are just two jumps meeting today, at Carlisle and Southwell.  David has two runners at Southwell, Red Sherlock and Smiles for Miles.  Red Sherlock is three from three in bumpers and won quite impressively at Cheltenham last time out.  He looks a great prospect and his making hid hurdling debut this afternoon with Tom Scu on board instead of the injured Timmy Murphy.  Smiles For Miles is the yard's other runner and is looking to improve on his debut effort.  He has form in irish point to points so it will be interesting to see how he gets on today.

I went out for a meal last night with old England table tennis player Des Douglas.  It was very nice of him to come down and see me and Trevor Taylor.  Just think, we have over 1000 caps for Engalnd and 45 national titles between us - somebody told me this!

I see snooker lengend Steve Davis could lose his tour card.  He went into the jungle instead of playing in the UK championships.  He is ranked at 61 and has got to stay in the top 64 to keep it.  He probably got more money for going in the jungle however!

The darts have started at Alexandra Palace.  It is live on Sky Sports and is now shown all over the world.  The biggest prize money ever is on offer with £250,000 to the winner.  Phil (The Power) Taylor is odds on to win but I am not sure he is a good bet at this price.  I wonder how many nine dart finishes there will be?!

In the football there are two good premier league matches today.  Aston Villa play Man Utd.  If Man Utd don't beat Villa they might not even get into the top four.  Villa have only won two games at home.  The big match is Spurs versus Liverpool who are without Steven Gerrard and can be backed at 19/10.  There should be a lot of goals!
