It was a good day for the yard yesterday with one winner from our only runner at Fakenham. The race wasn't without it's scares however as Count Danilo looked very green and inexperienced on only his third ever start (and first over hurdles) as he twice jumped the path. Tom Scudamore did well to sit tight, especially on the first occasion although he did get better as the race went on. He should have learned plenty for this experience and can hopefully win again for owner Brian Kilpatrick. It was lovely to see Brian at the track - he has been a supporter of the yard for many years and has had some wonderful horses including the amazing Sabin du Loir...now there was a racehorse!
There are four meetings taking place this afternoon - two over the sticks at Newbury and Ludlow as well as two all-weather flat cards at Lingfield and Kempton. The stable has two runners at Newbury - Prasina Russata (another runner for Mr Kilpatrick) and Vazaro Delafayette. Both of them appear to be in fiercely competitive races - Tom Scudamore rides the pair.
There was a bit of a skinner to finish the day at Fakenham yesterday as Miss Biscotti landed the closing mares' novices' hurdle at odds of 100/1. I wonder if any racegoers had a few quid on her? I once backed a 50/1 winner, although he did return at 66's! I am of course talking about 1981 Triumph Hurdle winner Baron Blakeney.

I was listening to the radio this morning and was surprised to hear an American telling us how we should be playing football. I wonder how many of our commentators are over in the States telling them how they should play rounders, sorry, I mean baseball! I guess it just goes to show the sorry state of football in our country - whatever is the world coming to? Perhaps we should ask for some advice about cricket too?!

I see that Liverpool are tyring to get the best player in the Premiership, Luis Suarez to sign a contract extension. Personally I think Suarez will see out the rest of this season and will then be off...Real Madrid looks like a nice place!

There could be a Manchester City versus Manchester United final in the Capital One Cup. City won 3-1 away to Leicester despite giving some of their reserve players a run out. Tonight Stoke play Manchester United and interestingly United appear to be playing quite a few of their first team.
Finally, I wonder how Spurs players will react tonight against my beloved West Ham? I guess we will see...
