Christmas Jottings

David does not have any runners today but there are two jumps meetings at Doncaster and Kelso as well as at Flat card at Southwell.  Tom Scu is in action at Doncaster.  It is amazing the amount of travelling that jockey's have to do.  You would not want to buy a car off a jockey!  Not only would it have high mileage I bet they tend to drive them quite quickly - just a suspicion!  I once travelled home from Cheltenham races with Hadden Frost driving.  I shouldn't tell tales but lets just say his hands were full and there was not a lot of contact with the steering wheel!  Mind you, he was only doing a little over the speed limit, he drives quicker than MCP!

I see that Paul Nicholls has gone odds on at 8/11 to regain the trainers championship.  At the end of the day it just comes down to who wins the big races with the most prize money.  He is currently leading the table but my idea of the top trainer is Jonjo O'Neill.  He is actually 34 winners in front of Nicholls but just has less prize money.  It seem to me that it is who has the best horses, not who is the best trainer.

When the football transfer market opens in January it will be interesting to see if anyone bids for Man United's wayne Rooney.  Money talks and I am sure that if Chelsea or Arsenal came in with a big enough money offer then he would be keen to leave.  

There is a great match today with Chelsea against Liverpool at 4pm.  Liverpool look the best team in the league to me at the moment.  Manager, Brendan Rogers is in trouble for comments he made about the referee in the game on Boxing day against Man City.  Mind you, I thought the ref made some shocking decisions!
