Today there are three meetings to look forward to with a jumps meeting at Plumpton and two all-weather flat fixtures at Wolverhampton and Lingfield.  The stable has one runner, Massannie at Plumpton.  Our six year old had looked most progressive, winning all three of her starts for the stable in good style (including on soft ground) before taking a horrible fall at Market Rasen.  She was wonderfully looked after by the vets and staff at the track afterwards and became a real favourite with them.  It is great to see her back on track and let's hope that she can regain winning ways under Tom Scudamore.  According to the handicapper she has 7lbs in hand of likely favourite Toubeera...I hope he is right!

Tomorrow isn't looking so good with the meetings at Lingfield and Ffos Las already abandoned.  Exeter are confident their card will be okay, although it will be very testing up on top of Haldon Hill.  Kelso lost their meeting yesterday due to Frost - I wonder what Hadden was doing up there?!

I see that jockey Josh Quinn received a two day ban when he weighed-in 2lbs heavy at Wolverhampton.  He should have told the stewards that he had one of those famous pies on the way down to the start!

What a great win from our cricketers in Australia.  Our ladies team beat Australia in their first Test match, while much as expected the men lost their first one day international.  Our bowlers looked terrible and never really troubled the Australian batsmen.

Talking of Australia, our two top lady tennis players were both beaten in the first round of the Australian Open, amazingly Serena Williams also suffered a surprise reversal.

I see that 9/4 favourite Stephen Bunting won the BDO World Darts Championship at the weekend as he beat Alan Norris 7-4 in the final.  I have to be honest, I had barely heard of the finalists prior to this week...why are there two World Championships?  I always think of the other one with the likes of Phil 'The Power' Taylor as the real deal.

There were two great football matches yesterday between Newcastle and Manchester City and Stoke versus Liverpool - English football at it's very best.  Aston Villa take on Arsenal tonight in what looks like another good match - it is on Sky Sports at 8pm.
