Today we have three meetings, two over the sticks at Leicester and Wetherby as well an all-weather flat card at Southwell.  Owing to the frost (and not the rain for a change!) both jumps cards have an early morning inspection to get past before we can be sure of some National Hunt action.  Hopefully the stable will have one runner at Leicester; good bumper horse Legacy Gold who makes her second hurdle start in the 2.15pm race.  She has won four of her five starts to date (including at Uttoxeter last time out, pictured above) and will be partnered by Tom Scudamore.

Has anyone else ever noticed how on the all-weather it is the same horses running against each other every other day?  They also seem to take it in turns to win - the good thing of course, is that most of them seem to remain sound on these artificial surfaces.  The interesting one today is Columbian Roulette - this is the one that unshipped Martin Dwyer with the race at his mercy last time out at Southwell.  Dwyer took a nasty tumble and was hospitalised - I bet he will be watching the race with interest on television.

I will be watching the football tonight with a sense of trepidation as the Hammers take on Manchester City - West Ham are 6-0 down after the first leg of the Capital One Cup!  As far as I'm concerned, I think West Ham should let all of the fans in for free after the team they put out in the first leg - it was a disgrace.  I still can't believe we are having to endure Sam Allardyce's management and he is still 20/1 to be given the old pac-a-mac before the end of January.  It would seem that the board do not want to fork out any money to get rid of him.

Apparently Manchester United manager David Moyes is holding clear the air talks with striker Robin Van Persie.  That is never a good sign - Van Persie could be off along with Wayne Rooney...things seem to go from bad to worse for United.

I see that snooker player Judd Trump says that Ronnie O'Sullivan is 'playing the best snooker of his career' following his Masters success at the weekend.  I wouldn't argue with him and he will be almost impossible to beat if remaining in the same sort of form with the world championships not far away.  The trouble with Ronnie is, you are never quite sure which one will turn up!
