I can't believe that Ludlow have cancelled their inspection for this morning and racing goes ahead without any anticipated problems - they have obviously managed to avoid the downpours that we have had in the west country over the past 24 hours. I have never known winds and rain like it - there are loads of trees down and many homes without power...when will it all end?! Even so, there are four meetings going ahead at Ludlow and Carlisle over the sticks and a couple of all-weather flat fixtures at Lingfield and Kempton. The stable has one runner, exciting novice chaser Edmund Kean (pictured above) who goes in the 2.10pm race. It may be a smalll field, but it won't be easy as he does have to concede 7lbs to his biggest rival The Romford Pele with A P McCoy on board.
I thought that our runner Too Generous performed creditably at Market Rasen yesterday to finish runner-up - she stayed on nicely and would appear to want a slightly longer trip. She should certainly be capable of winning again. We have now had four consecutive second place finishes...I hope Edmund Kean can go one better this afternoon!

I was saddened to hear that Sweet Glow had passed away. He gave us some great times, including a Royal Ascot success and it reminds me of a funny story involving American jockey Cash Asmussen who was booked to ride him that day. When he came out into the paddock Cash showed absolutely no interest whatsoever until Martin told him that he thought the horse would win at which point his ears pricked up and the pair duly won the 1994 Ascot Stakes in fine style.

I cannot believe that Swansea have sacked their manager Michael Laudry. If you can keep teams like Swansea in the Premier League then you are performing miracles in my book! I would say that if you are in the bottom twelve places and have managed to stay up then it is a job well done...very strange.
While we are on the subject of strange footballing decisions, what did Joe Kinnear ever do at Newcastle? It was a funny appointment that was never going to work. He was probably meant to be owner Mike Ashley's spy to find out what was going on...that is the sort of job I would like if he is reading!

Kevin Pietersen has finally (and not before time) been dropped by the England cricket selectors. Why don't they give the real reason why he was dropped? Surely it has to be something to do with the dressing room antics?
