With the ridiculous amount of rainfall it is hardly surprising that Sandown abandoned their jumps card for today earlier in the week, even so there is still action from three other venues to bring you.  There is a National Hunt fixture at Fakenham and two all-weather flat meetings at Lingfield and Wolverhampton and the stable has one runner, Doctor Harper in the 3.20pm at Fakenham.  He carries a large penalty for his successes at Exeter earlier in the season and on that form he should take plenty of beating under Tom Scudamore although he does have a disappointing run at Cheltenham last time to bounce back from.  It is a long way for Scu to go for just one ride - let's hope that it's a winning one!

As expected Long Run returned to winning ways over 3m2f yesterday afternoon at Kelso.  It looked like a good Grand National Trial to me and the step up in trip to 4m4f will help him.  While he may not be quite the force of a couple of years ago, he remains high class and looks a thorough stayer these days.

It is good news but I find it very hard to believe that the principal meetings for tomorrow, Ascot and Haydock are expecting to go ahead without any problems.  There is a 7.30am inspection planned at Wincanton and if they get the rain we are expecting, they could be in serious trouble.

I see that boxer George Groves is saying that Carl Froch has made a terrible mistake by agreeing to fight him again.  If that's the case then Groves should have his £1million purse on himself - the bookies make him a 2/1 chance, while Froch is their 4/7 favourite.  The bookmakers don't often get it wrong.

Golfer Lee Westwood has sacked his coach Sean Foley after just six months.  Foley obviously knows a thing or two about golf as he coaches Tiger Woods and Justin Rose!  It would be interesting to know why they have gone their seperate ways.

You can buy a house in Mayfair for £90million...it is the most expensive house currently on the market in the UK.  It has 21 bedrooms and an indoor swimming pool.  The last time I was in Mayfair I bought four bottles of Budweiser and it cost me £26 so that house is starting to sound reasonably priced!
