What a great day for the stable yesterday with two winners from two runners at two meetings! Shotavodka won with a fair amount in hand at Huntingdon despite showing a tendancy to jump left at his fences. Champion jockey A P McCoy said that he was better when he had some company and it would be no surprise to see David go the other way around with him next time while a longer trip will also be well within his compass. Meanwhile, over at Sedgefield I thought that Vieux Lion Rouge put up a good performance under Tom Scudamore to give 21lbs and a beating to a useful ex-French horse in Prince Khurram. He will certainly win more hurdle races, although I can't wait to see him go over fences!
Talking of Sedgefield, Martin paid his first ever visit to the course yesterday when he was on duty to welcome in Vieux Lion Rouge. I must have upset him because it was always me that he sent on these long journeys up north! What I didn't tell him was that the staff at Sedgefield always made me most welcome and I always enjoyed visiting the track.
It looks like another good day of action this aftenoon with four meetings taking place - two over the sticks at Warwick and Exeter and two all-weather flat meetings at Wolverhampton and Lingfield. The stable has runners at both jumps cards - at Exeter we are represented by Pleasant Company, Thomas Junior, Shaking Hands and Legacy Gold, while over at Warwick we have Count Danilo, Alderluck and Western Diva. The stable continues in good form and we look to have some more solid chances this afternoon - I could certainly see us having a winner or two.

I see that it is racy author Jilly Cooper's 72nd birthday today. Jilly is a great supporter of racing in this country, but my abiding memory of her are the notes that she used to jot down in her pad - I could never make out a word! Anyway, many happy returns Jilly.

What is wrong with legendary arrowsmith Phil Taylor? He just lost his third consecutive televised match against 'Snakebite' Wright. Cutting out the drink and the diet seems to have caused something of a 'Power failure'!

Could our Olympic curling team land a gold medal today when they take on Canada in the final? The last time they won a gold medal was in 1924. I will be glued to the television supporting our boys...I have got right into this curling lark!
