There are three meetings to look forward to this afternoon - two over the sticks at Exeter and Newcastle as well as an all-weather flat card at Southwell.  The stable has four runners at our local track, Exeter - they are Massannie, Party Girls, Alderluck and Milor de la Borie.  I see that Massannie is forecast to go off at odds-on and with her latest second being franked by subsequent Grade Two winner Toubeera she would be the one to beat.  However, she hasn't looked entirely straight forward at the start and I think she would prefer better ground.  Having said that, she won a bumper on soft ground at Ffos Las and was runner-up on heavy at Plumpton - why on earth am I even talking about the ground?!

He might only be a seller these days but ten year old Stand Guard goes for an incredible twenty-fifth win at Southwell this afternoon on the all-weather.  He is still on a handicap mark of 85 - what an incredible servant he has been.

I see that Willie Mullins has decided to take on Big Buck's in the World Hurdle with his unbeaten mare Annie Power.  Ruby Walsh will be aboard Annie Power and if anyone knows how to floor Big Buck's it would be Ruby who for so long was his regular pilot.  Take the 2/1 with Ladbrokes about Annie Power.  While we are on the subject of Cheltenham Willie Mullins is 5/2 to be leading trainer at the Festival and Ruby Walsh is 4/7 to be top jockey.  Surely if Mullins is top trainer, Ruby should be top jockey?  The double looks on to me!

It's a shame that Fontwell have already called off their fixture intended for tomorrow.  The course has had 226mm of rain since February 1st - it sounds like you could fish in that much water!  Having said that we have had 207.5mm at Pond House in the same time scale.

There look to be some potentially interesting football bets as there are plenty of international friendlys.  I think I will have a little treble on Portugal at 2/5, Russia at 2/5 and Colombia at 4/11 - that will do for me.  England take on Denmark at 8pm and the home side are 4/6 - surely if we are going to win a World Cup (which is only 100 days away now) we must be able to win this one at home?

I watched Ronnie O'Sullivan's latest 147 break last night and am absolutely convinced that 'The Rocket' comes from a different planet - he cannot be human!
